Bed Bug Bites Getting Rid of Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are a challenge not only for homeowners but for experienced pest control companies. Since bed bugs hide in so many places and in every nook and cranny, they are extremely hard to thoroughly eliminate with certainty. Since most household insecticides are not effective, it is recommended that you hire a pest control company. They are more experienced, know where to look for bed bugs and are licensed to use a stronger insecticide.

Types of Bed Bug Treatment
  • Low odor spray, dust and aerosol insecticides for bed bugs.

  • Discarding mattresses and other heavily infested items.

  • In-casing mattresses with special plastic bags.

  • Deep-cleaning of infested surfaces with stiff brushes to remove bed bug eggs.

  • Dismantling furniture or bed frames for more thorough cleaning.

  • Using powerful vacuums for cracks and crevices.

  • Filling cracks and crevices in walls, floors and mouldings.

  • Hiring companies with special heating equipment to raise the temperature in infested areas to 140 degrees F (bed bugs and their eggs are killed at 115 degrees F).

  • Using special bed bug sniffing dogs to sniff out infested areas.
How to Prevent Bed Bug Bites
  • Examining hotel beds and mattresses for signs of infestation.

  • Inspecting anything new or second-hand that you bring into your home (including luggage from your last trip).

  • Having a professional exterminator inspect your new home before moving in.
